Thanks so much for popping by. I’m Katie and I work as a commercial *classic* model. My modelling career started when I was 16 and appeared in the teen must-read Just Seventeen. Bitten by the bug, I then won the ‘Face of the 90s’ (Ahem, it’s now 2017!) competition in my local paper, followed by Birmingham’s New Faces competition a couple of years later. Taken on by Boss Models in Manchester, while studying for a foreign languages degree, I gained experience with photographic and catwalk jobs before jetting off to live in warmer climes!
A ‘real’ career followed with years working for some global brands in marketing, PR and copywriting along with an amazing few years teaching languages to primary school children.
2014 saw a return to writing with a new role as a features writer for Annabel Beeforth’s super glam, mega wedding blog www.lovemydress.net. This kickstarted a new direction for me and, with that little regret that I hadn’t pursued modelling further, I became a Specsavers’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year semi-finalist!!
The rest, as they say, is history! I registered with some lovely model agents, got me some new snaps and started working as a model. Although, I hate having to admit it to anyone as they expect us all to look like Cara Delevingne 😉
I have been so lucky to have already worked with some great brands, in a range of roles and met some wonderful fellow models, photographers, stylists and casting directors. I’ve finally found my dream job. I’m excited every day as to what will happen next… 🙂 With this blog I’m looking to share the highs, lows and the everything else of what it’s like changing career, taking a leap of faith and being a model (mum, wife and woman) in your 40s. Feel free to join me on my journey and say hi at some point!
